On October 24 and 28, the Kenyans in Japan Association (KIJA) has successfully conducted another pre-departure orientation session for four Kenyan workers preparing to travel to Japan for employment opportunities.

Among them, three participants will be joining companies in Hokkaido Prefecture under the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), while one participant will be traveling under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW)program.
Of the four, three will work in the construction industry and one in the caregiving sector, reflecting Kenya’s growing participation in Japan’s skilled labor exchange framework.

Strengthening Support for Kenyans Coming to Japan

This latest session follows KIJA’s successful induction and orientation of 21 Kenyan students who arrived in Japan in early October to join various universities, and three additional workers who came in August 2025.

In total, KIJA has supported 28 Kenyans arriving in Japan this year alone, providing them with crucial assistance for social integration and professional development across the country.

About the KIJA Orientation Program

KIJA’s orientation and integration program is designed to ensure that Kenyans coming to Japan are well-prepared both before departure and after arrival.

The program includes:

  • Pre-departure information sessions, which equip candidates with practical knowledge about living and working in Japan — including cultural etiquette, communication tips, work expectations, and basic daily life guidance.
  • Post-arrival support, which helps newcomers adjust smoothly to their new environment through mentorship, networking, and welfare support.

Through this structured approach, KIJA continues to play a vital role in bridging the gap between preparation and settlement, ensuring that every Kenyan in Japan has the tools and community support needed to thrive.
