Tokyo, Japan – March 2, 2025

In a vibrant display of community spirit and national pride, Kenyans in Japan participated in the prestigious Tokyo Marathon, culminating in a heartwarming luncheon with Ambassadors Moi Lemoshira and Arthur Adambi, along with other officials of Kenya’s Diplomatic Mission in Japan.

Following the marathon, members of the Kenyan community gathered for a luncheon hosted by KIJA’s Events Committee. The event took place against the backdrop of a highly successful campaign by Kenya’s athletes Winfridah Moraa Moseti and Vincent Kepkemoi Ng’etich, who clinched silver and bronze medals in the women’s and men’s races, respectively. Their achievements added to the festive atmosphere, where Kenyans reconnected with old friends and forged new bonds, reinforcing the unity of the community.

The ambassadors urged the community to remain united under the umbrella of the Kenyans in Japan Association (KIJA), emphasizing that this unity is key to leveraging collective strength and ensuring access to necessary support, particularly during challenging times.

Ambassador Moi Lemoshira reiterated the Embassy’s willingness to assist Kenyans in Japan, stating:

“You can come through KIJA or directly to us if you have an issue which you feel the Embassy can help you with—something that is difficult for you to overcome, let us know. The Embassy is very much willing to help.”

Reflecting on the event, one member in attendance remarked:

“It’s always inspiring to see our athletes excel on the world stage, but what’s even more special is coming together as a community to celebrate their success and support one another.”

This day of celebration not only highlighted Kenya’s sporting excellence but also reinforced the Embassy’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of Kenyans in Japan and the vital role KIJA plays in fostering unity and facilitating engagement.

As KIJA continues to advocate for the interests of Kenyans in Japan, the association encourages more members to get involved in its activities. Whether through networking events, cultural exchanges, or support initiatives, every Kenyan in Japan has a role to play in strengthening this community.
